AFA Extends Disaster Relief to Colorado Flood Victims

disrelief.png

We know that disasters can change lives in so many ways. While we can’t stop destructive events like the Colorado floods from happening, we can, as a union, assist members in their recovery effort. After September 11th, AFA established a disaster fund to aid our members who were placed in harm’s way. AFA members whose primary residence is in a federally-declared disaster area, and who have suffered financial loss and/or dislocation, are eligible for $200.00 from the AFA-CWA Disaster Relief Fund. It is a gift made possible by the generosity of your fellow AFA sisters and brothers.

A presidential declaration for individual assistance has now been declared in select counties in Colorado which has triggered the opening of the AFA Disaster Relief Fund. Individuals whose primary residences are in Adams, Arapahoe, Boulder, Clear Creek, El Paso, Jefferson, Larimer, Logan, and Weld Counties and have faced displacement, damage or financial loss are eligible for this cash assistance, as long as funds are available.

To be considered for AFA Disaster Relief Funds, complete the AFA Disaster Relief Fund application. If you have any questions about the application process, please call the International EAP office at 1-800-424-2406. The International EAP office will continue to monitor if other counties become eligible for assistance. AFA will announce any additional eligible Colorado counties to the membership through www.afacwa.org and MEC/LEC electronic sources.

AFA Disaster Relief Fund
AFA established the disaster relief fund after September 11th to assist our members whose lives were placed in harm’s way. It is a 501 (c)(3) charitable organization that is separate from AFA’s operating funds. This fund provides a means for AFA members to assist other members who have suffered damage, loss and relocation as a result of disaster. The fund is open for distribution once a presidential declaration for individual assistance is declared.
