Flight Attendant Union Commends Transportation Secretary
LaHood For Contributions To Aviation During Tenure
Washington, DC – The Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA)
issued the following statement praising the work of Secretary of
Transportation Ray LaHood after the announcement of his
resignation:
“Proving his commitment to advancing the U.S. aviation industry,
shortly after taking office, Secretary LaHood formed a committee
aimed at providing advice and recommendations on how to best
address the evolving transportation needs, the Future of
Aviation Advisory Committee (FAAC).
“One of the most successful FAAC recommendations was to form a
committee to bridge the gap between the aviation workforce and
management. AFA has proudly participated in the Aviation
Industry Workforce-Management Conference and collaborated with
various industry leaders on creating a roadmap for the future of
aviation to help ensure that our transportation system meets the
vital needs of the United States.
“Over the past four years, AFA has worked alongside Secretary
LaHood on numerous occasions and has witnessed his commitment to
a strong, domestic aviation policy. His dedication to advancing
our nation’s aviation system is evident through his advocacy for
swift implementation of the satellite-based Next Generation air
traffic control system.
“AFA has also been proud to partner with Secretary LaHood on
raising awareness of human trafficking. The Secretary’s pledge
to increase education and training on this issue is crucial in
maximizing the transportation industry’s collective impact on
human trafficking.
“AFA is grateful to Secretary LaHood for his intelligent and
inclusive leadership and for his many contributions to a safe
and reliable transportation infrastructure. Secretary LaHood’s
contributions to advancing our nation’s aviation infrastructure
will be his lasting legacy.”
