Flight Attendants Ratify New Contract With AirTran Airways

Washington, DC – AirTran Airways Flight Attendants, represented by the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA), ratified a two-year agreement today that includes pay increases and enhanced work rules for the over 2,000 Flight Attendants.

“AirTran Flight Attendants have been an integral part of the success of our carrier and this contract is a reflection of our contributions,” said Alison Head, AFA AirTran President. “Now that we have improvements in place that advance our careers immediately, we look forward to the opportunities ahead with Southwest Airlines. In a series of high profile picketing events, AirTran Flight Attendants showcased our unity and sent a message to management that a new agreement was imperative. Thanks to our collective resolve, we now have an agreement that recognizes our dedication and professionalism.”

The agreement will take effect May 1, 2011. AirTran Flight Attendants voted to ratify the contract by 96 percent.
