After new survey, Flight Attendants Union Calls on FAA, DOJ to take action, make “zero-tolerance” policy permanent

WASHINGTON, D.C. (July 29, 2021) — A new national survey of nearly 5,000 flight attendants released today by the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA, AFL-CIO (AFA) found that over 85 percent of all respondents had dealt with unruly passengers as air travel picked up in the first half of 2021. More than half (58%) had experienced at least five incidents this year. A shocking 17 percent reported experiencing a physical incident.

(June 3, 2021) —Today, Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas instructed TSA Administrator David Pekoske to issue new guidance expanding union rights for TSA employees and bringing their pay in line with other federal employees. WASHINGTON, D.C. (May 27, 2021) – The Association of Flight Attendants-CWA, AFL-CIO (AFA) and Norse Atlantic Airways (Norse) have agreed to a pre-hire agreement for U.S.-based Flight Attendant jobs at the new low-cost, long-haul start up airline. Norse expects to create a minimum of 700 Flight Attendant jobs in the U.S. and agreed to union neutrality with joint application for certification by the National Mediation Board once the Flight Attendants demonstrate majority interest in representation with AFA. The full contract, subject to ratification after certification of the union, includes industry-leading starting pay and job protections, healthcare, and a 401k among other key benefits.

WASHINGTON, D.C. (May 3, 2021) – The Association of Flight Attendants-CWA, AFL-CIO (AFA) and Norse Atlantic Airways (Norse) have agreed to schedule negotiations at the end of May in an effort to reach agreement on a flight attendant contract at the new low-cost, long-haul start up airline.
