 Washington, DC – The Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA), the world’s largest Flight Attendant union, commended the Obama Administration for efforts announced today to enhance our nation’s response to Ebola at home and abroad. AFA has worked around the clock to ensure that Flight Attendant work as aviation’s first responders remains at the forefront of Ebola discussions. AFA has provided specific recommendations to help protect the health of all airline workers and the travelling public.

Washington, DC –The Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA), the world’s largest Flight Attendant union representing nearly 60,000 Flight Attendants at 19 carriers, today notified Ebola Response Coordinator Ron Klain and key federal agencies overseeing aviation safety and health of protective and response measures needed to support aviation’s first responders and safe air travel.

Washington, DC –Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA) International President Sara Nelson issued the following statement today praising President Obama’s appointment of Ron Klain to lead efforts overseeing the government’s response to the Ebola outbreak in the United States:

“President Obama is taking responsible action to dedicate resources and coordinate our federal government’s response to the ongoing Ebola outbreak. AFA is contacting Mr. Klain on immediate recommendations to minimize, contain, and eradicate the risk of Ebola from being further spread through civil aviation.

Washington, DC – The Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA), representing Frontier Airlines Flight Attendants, applauds Frontier Airlines management for responding immediately to the concerns of frontline workers and taking decisive action to safeguard the health and safety of Flight Attendants affected by transport of the confirmed Ebola patient.

Washington, DC – The Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA) today announced a tentative agreement with Alaska Airlines management. The five year agreement, covering over 3,300 Flight Attendants, was reached with the assistance of the National Mediation Board. Next, the agreement will be presented to the Alaska Airlines Flight Attendant leadership. Once approved to go out for a vote, further details will be released and the agreement will be sent to the membership for ratification.

Washington, DC – The Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA), representing nearly 60,000 Flight Attendants at 19 airlines, today called on government and public health officials to collaborate on more extensive health screenings of passengers travelling from areas affected by the current Ebola outbreak.

Washington, DC- The Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA), representing nearly 60,000 Flight Attendants at 19 carriers, today praised a bipartisan coalition of United States Representatives who issued a letter to the heads of four U.S. government agencies urging the continuation of the current ban on mobile broadband in the aircraft cabin.  The letter also requested that risks to aviation safety and security arising from the proposed expansion of communications capability be addressed in a collaborative, multi-agency effort.
