United Flight Attendants Join Teamsters In Support Of Contract To Move Our Company Forward
Chicago, IL – Greg Davidowitch, United Master Executive Council President, Marcus Valentino, Continental Master Executive Council President and Suzanne Hendricks, Continental Micronesia Master Executive Council President of the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA at United Airlines (AFA), representing 25,000 United Flight Attendants, today issued the following joint statement of support for the Mechanics at United Airlines following the collapse of Contract negotiations with the Teamsters:
“Management has made promises to the employees of United Airlines and they need to deliver on those commitments by completing post-merger joint contracts. Mechanics, like United Flight Attendants, are resolved to achieve a contract based on the terms employees expect. If United is to be the best airline, it requires recognition of its most valuable asset, the employees upon whom our airline’s success has been built. An industry-leading airline requires employees who are supported by industry leading contracts.
“Flight Attendants stand shoulder-to-shoulder in solidarity with our sisters and brothers at the Teamsters to uphold this principle and demonstrate to the company it’s time to move forward together.
“Investors, analysts, passengers and employees are all well aware that the business of merging Continental and United Airlines is behind schedule and off track. It’s time for management to deliver on their original promise of a New United with new Contracts that respect the valuable service of all of its employees.”
Nearly 60,000 Flight Attendants, including the over 25,000 Flight Attendants at United, join together to form the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA), the world's largest Flight Attendant Union.
