178 Members of Congress Sign Right to Strike Letter
May 17, 2024—Thanks to your action, 178 Members of Congress signed on to a congressional letter to the National Mediation Board urging the agency to use all provisions under the Railway Labor Act to resolve contract negotiations. This is a massive show of congressional support for our careers and our right to strike!
Deadlines are critical for negotiations. Airlines have delayed earned improvements by as much as five years while awarding CEOs and other executives sky-high salaries and bonuses. Flight Attendants are understandably fired up as they struggle to make ends meet. With tens of thousands of Flight Attendants in drawn-out negotiations across the country, we clearly need a credible strike threat to settle these disputes.
We thank the Members of Congress who are standing up for aviation workers’ rights and encouraging urgent resolution of protracted negotiations.
Flight Attendants and our allies made over 16,000 calls to Congress and wrote over 1,200 letters. The letter was led by Reps. Melanie Stansbury (NM-1st), Donald Norcross (NJ-1st), Mark Pocan (WI-2nd), Debbie Dingell (MI-6th), Steven Horsford (NV-4th), and Brian Fitzpatrick (PA-1st).
