32 Senators Sign on to Congressional Letter to the National Mediation Board

June 14, 2024—This week, 32 Senators signed on to a congressional letter to the National Mediation Board urging the agency to use all provisions under the Railway Labor Act to resolve contract negotiations.

Airline management across the industry believe they have a free pass to delay conclusion of negotiations while rewarding executives with big bonuses. This congressional letter — which was followed by a similar letter signed by 178 Representatives in the House — sends a clear message that they can’t get away with this any longer.

This support could not have come at a better time.

“When negotiations drag on for three to more than five years it’s clearly time to call the question,” Nelson said.

We thank Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) and every Senator who signed the letter for standing up for our rights as aviation workers and encouraging urgent resolution of protracted negotiations. Read the letter here. Read the press release here.
