AFA at the CWA Human Rights Conference
August 15, 2022 - Members of the AFA Human Rights Committee attended the CWA Human Rights Conference in Phoenix this week to focus on the efforts to fight against racism, sexism, religious intolerance, nationalism, and other biases that have kept working people from using the full power of our solidarity.
The four-day conference was themed, “Where There is Injustice, You Will Find Us!” Speakers included AFA International Vice President Keturah Johnson.
“What a fantastic week learning how to better advocate and be an ally for our members at the CWA-Human Rights Conference in Phoenix. I was incredibly proud and honored to be the first Queer Woman of color veteran to serve as the International Vice President for AFA and the opportunity to represent many airlines within AFA. Thank you to CWA for an awesome conference and tools to get out to do the work, because we ain’t finished yet!
I want to make sure that where we work is safe and supportive for all people, including: women, immigrants, trans-people, Black and Indigenous people of color, and the LGBTQIA+ community, so that every one Flight Attendant that AFA represents has a voice! Get involved! Get out and VOTE! Where there is injustice, you will find us!”
