AFA-CWA Attends CWA Human Rights Conference
August 20, 2024 - AFA Flight Attendants from Spirit, Endeavor, United, Piedmont, Norse, Alaska, Hawaiian, Frontier, Mesa, were in Houston this week for the 2024 Communications Workers of America Human Rights Conference.
Flight Attendants focused our efforts to fight against racism, sexism, religious intolerance, nationalism, and other biases that have kept working people from using the full power of our solidarity. AFA hosted an interactive workshop that explored the differences between sex, gender, gender identity, and sexual orientation in the workplace. We provided a lexicon for discussion, and dove into activities and conversations around perceptions of gender and how these show up in professional settings and beyond. Participants left with knowledge of the differences and tools to have informed discussions in the workplace.
International Vice President Keturah Johnson posted about the conference on Instagram, writing: “We came as our authentic selves, and were welcomed, seen, loved, cared for as such.”
