AFA-CWA Joins the Texas AFL-CIO Constitutional Convention

(July 27, 2019) - Local Texas AFA-CWA leaders gathered in San Antonio this week for the Texas AFL-CIO 60th Constitutional Convention.

Texas AFL-CIOAFA President Sara Nelson was on the agenda to address the delegates on Thursday. She said, "Using power, builds power." She also shared Flight Attendant Issues such as disparate pay and benefits at regional airlines and Flight Attendant staffing.

We are proud that one of our own, AFA United Houston Council 42 Flight Attendant Ginny Stronger-McDavid, is President of the Harris County Labor Assembly and active in the TX AFL-CIO. AFA Council 42 member Mario Salinas also represented AFA-CWA at the Convention.

Claude Cummings, Vice President of CWA District 6 and CWA’s National Human Rights Director, is a major voice for working people in Texas. AFA stated that District 6 efforts alongside other unions is “turning Texas from a non-voting state to a democracy breaking through for working people.” And we’re building momentum.
