AFA Speaks at Yale Law School on Women & Unions

October 21, 2022 - AFA President Sara Nelson was invited to deliver the Gruber Distinguished Lecture in Women’s Rights this week. The Gruber Distinguished Lecture in Women's Rights feature speakers whose exceptional achievements have served the causes of women's rights. 

Sara's lecture, Women and Unions: Solidarity is a Force Stronger than Gravity, highlighted the importance of women leading and running unions, organizing workers in the aviation industry and across sectors, #MeToo and the work to achieve true equality for women in the United States and more.

The Gruber Foundation gives a $10,000 honorarium to the lecturer. Sara directed her honorarium to the AFA Disaster Relief Fund to help Flight Attendants recover from disasters.

While at Yale, we also met with graduate students organizing with Unite Here Local 33 at Yale alongside campus workers in Local 35 and hotel workers in Local 217. We were joined by union siblings of the Connecticut AFL-CIO and New Haven Federation of Teachers Local 933.
