Association of Flight Attendants-CWA Congratulates Secretary of Transportation Anthony Foxx On Confirmation

Washington, DC - The Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA) congratulates Charlotte Mayor Anthony Foxx on his confirmation as U.S. Secretary of Transportation. AFA appreciates the work of outgoing Department of Transportation (DOT) Secretary Ray LaHood and looks forward to continuing a fantastic working relationship with Secretary Foxx in his new role. We support the Secretary’s efforts to ensure a safe, reliable transportation infrastructure that supports and sustains our entire economy.

“AFA looks forward to partnering with Secretary Foxx to maintain and advance U.S. aviation as the safest, most reliable and innovative in the world. AFA has collaborated with the Department of Transportation extensively to promote strong domestic aviation policy and a roadmap for the future. AFA will ensure Secretary Foxx has the advantage of regular access to the experience of Flight Attendants as we work together to evolve our transportation system.

“AFA supports the efforts of Secretary Foxx to progress NextGen programs and keep the U.S. as the world’s leader in aviation. Not only is this vital program the largest transportation infrastructure project in history, but its implementation will help to retain our competitive edge in the global market.

“We encourage Secretary Foxx to continue DOT’s commitment to combat human trafficking. AFA has been a dedicated partner in the fight against this modern day slavery. Flight Attendants play a crucial role in identifying offenders to save lives and save thousands from a horrible life.”

The Association of Flight Attendants is the world’s largest Flight Attendant union. Focused 100 percent on Flight Attendant issues, AFA has been the leader in advancing the Flight Attendant profession for 67 years.
