Ban on Stock Buybacks Set to Expire: Extend the Ban and Invest in People

July 23, 2022 - In 2020 and 2021, when we came together to push Congress to pass and extend the Payroll Support Program, legislation that kept us connected to our jobs, paychecks and healthcare, we also demanded a ban on stock buybacks and dividends.

No Stock BuybacksNow, as the ban is set to expire September 30, airlines are already hinting they plan to spend billions on new stock buybacks when they should be investing in frontline workers.

Until they fix the operational issues, staff the airlines with enough people to meet the demand of the American public, and conclude contract negotiations, not one dollar should go to stock buybacks or executive pay.
