Congress Leaves Without Relief, AFA Plans Day of Action on Dec. 1
November 20, 2020 — Congress will leave town for their Thanksgiving break without passing essential COVID relief for millions of Americans, including aviation workers. It is infuriating and unacceptable.
Staff of the four Congressional leaders – Speaker Pelosi, Leader McConnell, Minority House Leader, Minority Senate Leader Schumer — met yesterday about government funding that must pass by December 11 to avoid a government shutdown. Separately, they discussed COVID relief.
Airlines for America, the trade association for major U.S. airlines, sent a letter to Congress yesterday calling for an extension to the Payroll Support Program, highlighting the need for airlines to be strong to help distribute a COVID vaccine. Major airline CEOs signed the letter.
