COVID-19 Precautions: Stay Vigilant, Take Care of Yourself
November 13, 2020 —As cases of COVID-19 continue to surge across the country, we must remain committed to our layered safety and health procedures to protect ourselves and other crewmembers, and prevent the spread of COVID-19 onboard and throughout our communities.
If you are well, you should come to work, wear a mask, wash hands frequently and use all the safety tools at our disposal to remain healthy.
Your AFA Master Executive Councils (MEC) have negotiated Letters of Agreement for Flight Attendants who are exposed to a test positive or who are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms. Check with your local or MEC and familiarize yourself with the agreement and your airline's policy. Put simply: if you are sick or experiencing COVID-19 symptoms, stay home.

Symptoms of COVID-19
- Common: fever, fatigue, shortness of breath, and dry cough.
- Some may have: aches and pains, nasal congestion, runny nose, sore throat or diarrhea. These symptoms are usually mild and begin gradually.
- Some people become infected but don’t develop any symptoms and don't feel unwell. However, this makes the spread harder to contain and puts others at risk.
The AFA Executive Board of Directors unanimously approved operational recommendations developed by the AFA International Air Safety, Health, Security Department working in partnership with the safety committees at all the AFA carriers. These were recently sent to the CEOs of every AFA carrier requesting action to implement the recommendations. View our Fall COVID-19 Operational Recommendations >
