CWA Executive Board Meets in Washington, DC

December 7, 2019 - The annual in-person meeting of the CWA Executive Board took place on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week. We are proud that for the first time AFA has two seats on this Board with Dante Harris, AFA Council 12, recently elected to serve as the Western Region CWA Executive Board Diversity Seat. AFA President Sara Nelson and Dante Harris joined the elected leaders throughout CWA who form the CWA Executive Board to review and discuss, and move forward the priorities of CWA members, including organizing of Delta Flight Attendants and supporting bargaining at Hawaiian, Air Wisconsin, Horizon, GoJet, Norwegian and all AFA-CWA properties in negotiations.

Our Flight Attendant union has a merger agreement with CWA that ensures Flight Attendants only determine the running of AFA-CWA, including full control of our funds, assets, and policies. Our merger agreement keeps our union in the hands of Flight Attendants and retains our craft specific union for Flight Attendants.

But we are also stronger by working in partnership with the 700,000 members of the Communications Workers of America including workers in telecom, journalism, airline customer service and ramp, broadcasting, manufacturing, public service and much more. We have a bigger reach and much greater access because we work together on issues that affect all of us as workers. There is power in numbers. We are proud that our CWA Executive Board is among the most diverse in the labor movement. Check it out!

The AFA-CWA Executive Board, with the Flight Attendant Presidents from each of our AFA represented airlines, will be joining together for an in person meeting in Washington, DC this coming week.
