FAA Reauthorization One Step Closer To Long-Term Funding
Flight Attendants’ Advocacy Helps Push FAA Reauthorization through U.S. House
Washington, DC – After putting members of the U.S. House of Representatives on speed dial for several weeks and conducting events at airports across the country, the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA) issued the following statement regarding today’s passage of a four-month extension of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) by the House:
“The House passage of a four-month, clean extension for funding the FAA is a step in the right direction. AFA remains resolute in our advocacy for long-term funding of the FAA.
“Funding the FAA means funding safe air travel for millions of crewmembers and passengers. This extension will keep current projects on track until a long-term funding bill can be passed.
“Flight Attendants across the country have been on the forefront of this important issue for weeks and those efforts helped push back the tide of union busting provisions that had no place in this bill. There is still much work to be done and we now look to the Senate for completion of this extension before a potential shutdown occurs on the 16th. The FAA must be allowed to continue its mission of providing the safest, most efficient aviation system in the world.”
