Flight Attendant Union Calls for Release of Union Leader from ICE Detention
WASHINGTON, D.C. (June 8, 2025) — AFA-CWA calls for the immediate release of our brother David Huerta of SEIU California from ICE custody and demand any pending charges against him be dropped.
President Huerta was exercising his first amendment rights and advocating for working people when he was violently assaulted by masked ICE agents. His violent arrest is a call to action for anyone who believes in our constitutional rights, due process, and the rule of law in America.
This is not the first time labor unionists appear to have been targeted by immigration enforcement. This administration's apparent use of ICE to threaten and intimidate working people for exercising our rights to workplace democracy is wrong and a threat to all workers.
Our union stands in solidarity with immigrant workers against these extreme anti-worker actions, that are illegal and appear to be kidnapping and human trafficking. We stand with David Huerta and all people who stand up for freedom.
