Flight Attendant Union Honors Senator Inouye For Lifetime Service To His Country
Washington, DC, December 18, 2012 - The Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA) issued the following statement honoring the life and legacy of Hawaii Senator Daniel Inouye:
“Today, we join our sisters and brothers across the country in mourning the loss of a tireless advocate for American workers. For over five decades, Senator Inouye stood with the middle class to create a country that worked for everyone.
“Through his various positions on committees vital to the aviation industry, Senator Inouye was a supporter of numerous Flight Attendant issues. His contributions to our industry have been innumerable.
“From protecting Flight Attendant jobs and advocating for adequate rest provisions to championing legislation to preserve a secure retirement for Flight Attendants, Senator Inouye was there to hear our concerns and work with us for resolutions. Flight Attendants around the world will always be grateful to our friend, Daniel Inouye.
“Our hearts are heavy as we send condolences to the entire extended Inouye family. We are grateful for the opportunity to have worked with such an inspirational figure and we will keep his spirit of service with us always. On behalf of our AFA family, and our members in Hawaii, we say ‘Mahalo and Aloha ‘Oe’ to their island son.”
