Flight Attendant Union Opens Negotiations at Alaska Airlines With Eye On Future
Washington, DC – Alaska Airlines Flight Attendants, represented by the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA), this week opened negotiations with management on a collective bargaining agreement covering the nearly 3,000 Flight Attendants at the carrier.
“We are confident that management will recognize the contributions that Flight Attendants have made to the record-breaking profits and operational performance Alaska Airlines has experienced recently. We anticipate working with management to achieve improved work rules, compensation, and flexibility in our schedules while ensuring the future of our careers,” said Jeffrey Peterson, AFA president at Alaska Airlines.
Alaska Airlines is the seventh largest airline in the U.S. and along with its sister carrier Horizon Air, provides passenger and cargo service to more than 90 cities from four bases - Anchorage, Seattle, Portland and Los Angeles. Alaska Flight Attendants protect and preserve the safety of the cabin environment on over 400 flights daily, operated on Boeing 737’s.
“AFA negotiates based on the priorities set by Flight Attendants through surveys, meetings and direct member feedback to elected Flight Attendant leaders. We have spent a great deal of time working with Flight Attendants to determine the priorities of our negotiations and we remain dedicated to the future long-term success of Alaska Airlines,” added Peterson.
