Flight Attendant Union Reaffirms Support For Marriage Equality

Washington, DC – As the United States Supreme Court began hearings on marriage equality, the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA) issued the following statement of support for equal rights:

“For over 60 years, AFA has had a longstanding commitment to equality regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression. Today, we stand in solidarity with our sisters and brothers across the country in the struggle for marriage equality.

“It is time for our country to recognize all committed couples equally, including same-sex couples. Citizens across the nation continue to address this basic equal rights issue and it is imperative that the laws of our nation protect the right of all people who choose to enter into the institution of marriage.

The Association of Flight Attendants is the world’s largest Flight Attendant union. Focused 100 percent on Flight Attendant issues, AFA has been the leader in advancing the Flight Attendant profession for 67 years. Serving as the voice for Flight Attendants in the workplace, in the aviation industry, in the media and on Capitol Hill, AFA has transformed the Flight Attendant profession by raising wages, benefits and working conditions. Nearly 60,000 Flight Attendants come together to form AFA, part of the 700,000-member strong Communications Workers of America (CWA), AFL-CIO. Visit us at www.afacwa.org.
