Flight Attendants Advocate on Capitol Hill on FAA Reauthorization
March 10, 2023 - Over 60 Flight Attendant activists from airlines across our union were in Washington, D.C. this week for Government Affairs 101 training and meetings with lawmakers to advance our careers. Flight Attendants talked with Congress and urged them to work swiftly to support our Flight Attendant priorities in the upcoming FAA Reauthorization Bill.
Our union’s priorities in the bill this year include: establishing a national banned passenger list for violent passengers, improving cabin air quality, establishing cabin temperature standards. stopping flags of convenience carriers, updating aircraft emergency evacuation standards, seatbelts for all ticketed passengers, and more.
We also joined CWA, SEIU, and UNITE HERE at a Good Jobs, Good Airports Rally to fight for a living wage and benefits for all airport and aviation workers.
We’ll be calling on Flight Attendants to take action! Stay tuned. Interested in advocating on Capitol Hill with your flying partners? Reach out to your Local council to get involved!
