Flight Attendants Picket and Rally with Airline Food Workers
(July 27, 2019) - We joined UNITE HERE airline food workers on Tuesday at DCA to picket and rally for a living wage and decent health insurance.
"We airline workers know who calls the shots in this industry: the airlines! Most DCA catering workers prepare food and beverage for American Airlines. American can end poverty wages and unaffordable health care for catering staff,” AFA President Sara Nelson said.
American Airlines, Delta, and United made over $50 Billion in combined profits in just the past 5 years alone, but Flight Attendants at regional airlines and the workers who prepare and load food and beverages onto our planes are often left living in poverty and unable to afford healthcare. This fight is our fight. This is also about the safety of food and catering equipment in our workplace.
One job should be enough for all aviation workers!
