Frontier Flight Attendants Picket Airline Headquarters for New Contract

DENVER — Frontier Flight Attendants will picket outside Frontier Airlines Headquarters on Thursday, January 24 to protest low wages and unfair work rules in a push for a new contract.

“Frontier Flight Attendants are the lowest paid among major carriers in the U.S.,” said Jennifer Sala, Association of Flight Attendants-CWA Frontier chapter president. “This is unacceptable. Frontier Airlines needs to step up and pay aviation’s first responders a wage that recognizes our critical safety role onboard.”

Frontier Pilots recently ratified a new contract, but the airline still faces labor unrest with Flight Attendants. AFA Frontier Flight Attendants voted in November by 99 percent to authorize a strike.

Negotiations are overseen by the National Mediation Board (NMB) and scheduled to continue in February. Lack of progress could lead to the NMB declaring that negotiations are deadlocked and releasing both parties into a 30-day "cooling off" period leading to a strike deadline. AFA has a trademarked strike strategy known as CHAOS or Create Havoc Around Our System™. With CHAOS, a strike could affect the entire system or a single flight. The union decides when, where, and how to strike without notice to management or passengers.
