Frontier Flight Attendants Protest Offensive Sick Leave Policy

Last month, Frontier Airlines President Barry Biffle (also known for his role as former Vice President of Spirit Airlines) announced his heavy-handed policy changes to use of sick leave. The new program calls for accelerated discipline when using sick leave in addition to a reduced number of sick calls leading to termination. These policy changes could lead to Flight Attendants being fired….for being sick!

Flight Attendants sustain illness and injury on the job at a rate twice as high as coal miners. This is the reality of our mobile, turbulence prone, oxygen reduced, physical work environment. And, Frontier Flight Attendants made concessions in bankruptcy just a few years ago which resulted in working harder for less. This sick leave policy change is insulting to the dedicated frontline of Frontier Airlines.

President Barry Biffle has made it clear he believes Flight Attendants have an expiration date and it is clear to us this policy is intended to rush experienced Flight Attendants out the door. This is just like the career-denying discrimination that our union fought to end decades ago.

Today, Frontier Flight Attendants donned red shirts and picketed outside company headquarters. Flight Attendants were joined by hundreds of CWA members who stood in solidarity and demanded Frontier reverse this policy change.

We all stand in solidarity with our Frontier Flight Attendants and again such offensive actions by management that Make Us Sick.
