Furloughs Begin at Spirit and Norse

Furloughs Begin at Spirit and Norse

October 31, 2025 - Voluntary and involuntary furloughs will begin at Spirit and Norse Atlantic Airways, respectively, tomorrow, November 1, 2025.

As part of the downsizing in bankruptcy, 554 Spirit Flight Attendants are taking 6 and 12 month voluntary furloughs. Spirit AFA successfully pushed management to increase the number of voluntary personal furloughs (VPF) to save as many jobs as possible as the airline navigates its second bankruptcy. Thanks to these Flight Attendants, we were able to reduce the involuntary furloughs, set to start on December 1.

At Norse, 39 cabin crew members will face temporary furloughs up to six months and 52 will be furloughed indefinitely. After management announced furloughs at its JFK base, Norse AFA secured an agreement for voluntary leaves in lieu of furlough (VLLF) that helped offset about half of the anticipated furloughs.

Keep our Spirit and Norse Flight Attendant siblings in your thoughts while they navigate this incredibly difficult time. Our union continues to work to secure preferential interviews and/or hiring at other AFA carriers.
