Holiday Travel Tips

Holiday Travel Tips

December 18, 2024 - The official holiday travel period starts tomorrow, December 19th, and will continue through Thursday, January 2nd. TSA anticipates it will screen more than 39 million people at airports nationwide during the same period. To best prepare for a safe, efficient travel experience, we created a list of Holiday Travel Tips from Your Flight Attendants for passengers.

  • Make sure you have all the required documents for your destination, including your ID and boarding pass.

  • Pack your carry-on from an empty bag to avoid inadvertently bringing prohibited items to the security checkpoint. Remind yourself of TSA’s prohibited items list for carry-on and checked baggage.

  • Pack your patience. Get to the airport early to avoid worry caused by long lines at check in, security checkpoints, or concessions.

  • Be sure to bring an external charger for any long delays that may occur.

  • Bring non-perishable food like a protein bar in case your travels stretch across meal time and you don’t have time to pick up food in the airport or access to food on the plane.

  • Pack an empty water bottle to refill at a water station once through security.

  • Rethink that alcoholic beverage before your flight. Anyone who appears to be intoxicated will be denied boarding. Once in the air, the cabin is pressurized at 8000 feet and oxygen levels can intensify the effects of alcohol.

  • Remember to bring noise-canceling headphones or earplugs in case of uncomfortable noises & download your airline’s app before getting to the airport. Many airlines make entertainment available on your personal device.

  • Bring kindness and be a helper. If able, offer assistance to other travelers and thanks to airline workers.

  • Finally, relax and enjoy your flight.
