Hundreds Picket United Airlines in Pacific and Europe for Fair Flight Attendant Contract

Picketing Continues All Day Across the Country, Including New Locations Just Announced

WASHINGTON, July 16, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Flight Attendants, represented by the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA), began today picketing in Guam, Tokyo and Hong Kong with hundreds showing up for the start of a system-wide Day of Action to call on United Airlines to negotiate a fair contract for Flight Attendants in a time of record profits.

"In a time of record profits United management is attempting to gut our contracts. This fight is about our scope and job security. This fight is about management trying to take away profit sharing at a time of record profits. This fight is about maintaining contract provisions that survived even bankruptcy," said AFA International President Sara Nelson from the picket line this morning at Washington National Airport. "This fight is about a corporate power grab and we won't stand for it. Flight Attendants have given a lot to United Airlines and we deserve a fair contract in return. We are united and we will settle for nothing less than our fair share."

AFA represents the 24,000 Flight Attendants at United Airlines.

AFA invites media to RSVP and come out to your local airport. Visit http://ourcontract.org/day-of-action/july-16-2015/ for more information.
