In Loving Memory of Larry Willis

In Loving Memory of Larry Willis

November 30 —  Last night, a champion for Flight Attendants and all aviation workers passed with his wife and daughter at his side. The President of the Transportation Trades Department, the affiliated transportation unions of the AFL-CIO, Larry Willis, 53, succumbed to injuries sustained on November 22 in a tragic biking accident. TTD Remembrance >

For nearly three decades, Larry Willis was present for all of our fights. AFA President Sara Nelson said, “Larry was always eager to help fight for AFA members. He always asked what more he could do in any fight we faced. People will remember his unbounded kindness and service heart, but my favorite memory of Larry was when he filled in last minute at an AFA rally for his charismatic TTD President predecessor, Ed Wytkind. I introduced Larry and went back to my notes on the rest of the rally, then stopped dead in my tracks as sweet Larry brought the house down with the best speech of the day. He wanted to represent his good friend Ed well, but he easily poured fire into his delivery because at his core he believed fervently in justice for working people. It wasn’t just words or applause lines to Larry. We all love Larry and he loved us.”

Help us remember our friend, with his own words, during our biggest fight yet. Let us finish the fight to secure our jobs and build back stronger. Let us live as he showed us – “to act in solidarity.” Watch Our Remembrance Video:
