International Workers Day

International Workers Day

May 2, 2025 -- Workers from across the country showed up and showed out in a powerful display of Solidarity on May Day, also known as International Workers Day. Did you attend a May Day event? Send pictures to [email protected].

For too long, the corporate class have lined their pockets with the profits we create, while workers fall behind. Just look at United CEO Scott Kirby, who has awarded himself with a 246% increase in total compensation over just two years while failing to reach an agreement for a new Flight Attendant contract.

May Day has been a cornerstone of the labor movement for over a century. The International Workers Congress held in Paris in 1889 adopted a resolution for a "great international demonstration" in support of working-class demands for the 8 hour day. The May 1st date was chosen by the American Federation of Labor (AFL) to commemorate a general strike in the United States, which had begun on May 1, 1886 and culminated in the Haymarket massacre in Chicago four days later.

We can never forget that workers fought and died for our rights. As corporate greed has stolen our time, our money, and the social contract workers built nearly 100 years ago, it couldn’t be more clear that it’s time to fight. Multi-national corporate thieves don’t care which country workers come from, they just want the lowest paid work they can get. Our fight for dignity is international and we made our solidarity clear in our actions on this May Day. We’re just getting started.
