October 1, 2023 – According to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, in 2023, an estimated 297,790 new cases of invasive breast cancer will be diagnosed in women in the U.S., as well as 55,720 new cases of non-invasive (in situ) breast cancer. There are currently over 3.8 million breast cancer survivors in the United States. A recent study from Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health found that Flight Attendants in the U.S. have a higher prevalence of every cancer they studied, especially breast cancer, melanoma, and non-melanoma skin cancer.

Merger FAQs - Spirit/JetBlue

September 29, 2023 — Especially as we get closer to the proposed JetBlue/Spirit merger trial dates in October, we know that everyone has questions and/or concerns. The lawsuit filed by the U.S. Justice Department to halt the merger will go to trial on October 16th in Boston and is expected to last for approximately four-weeks. A decision will not be made until January at the earliest. 

What a Government Shutdown Means for Flight Attendants

September 27, 2023 — Congress' lack of action has us on the brink of a full government shutdown, which is dangerous and reckless. Yesterday, however, the Senate introduced a Continuing Resolution (CR) with funding the entire government through Nov. 17 and the FAA through the end of the year. While this is in no way acceptable because it doesn’t provide the stability that’s needed for hiring, training, maintaining infrastructure or updating technology - at least it would keep federal workers on the job and covering the important safety and security functions we count on for our jobs and our home lives.

September 22, 2023 - After months of intense negotiations, UAW auto workers at the “Big 3” (Ford, Stellantis (Chrysler), and General Motors) have been forced to go on strike. Flight Attendants know all too well the challenge of negotiating with employers that refuse to bargain in good faith and agree to a contract that reflects what we’ve earned with our hard work.

A Seat for Every Passenger: Honor Evan Tsao

September 22, 2023 - Today, there is no requirement to protect our smallest passengers in their own seat with a proper restraint device. Children under the age of two can fly as a “lap child” in the same seat as their parent or guardian. The FAA, the National Transportation Board (NTSB), American Academy of Pediatrics, independent researchers, and Flight Attendants have all concluded this is dangerous.
