Alaska-Hawaiian Merger: Joint MEC Elections

Updated January 18, 2024 — Dear Alaska and Hawaiian AFA Members:

As reported last month, the MEC Officer elections for the merged MEC will be conducted on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, with an effective date of March 1, 2025. The Alaska and Hawaiian Local Council Presidents and the respective MEC Officers from each airline will meet in person in San Francisco for these elections.

January is National Slavery & Human Trafficking Prevention Month

January 6, 2025 - We can take a stand against human trafficking by recommitting ourselves to end it on our planes. As Flight Attendants and aviation's first responders, we are uniquely positioned to identify human traffickers and assist their victims.

One Year: Honoring Alaska Flight 1282 Crew

January 5, 2025 — One year ago, Alaska Airlines Flight 1282 departed PDX for ONT. Shortly after takeoff, a door plug on the Boeing 737 MAX 9 aircraft blew out, causing an explosive decompression. All 171 passengers and 6 crew members survived the accident.
