Alzheimer’s & Brain Awareness Month: The Untold Cost of Caregiving

(June 14, 2018) - Eighty-three percent of the help provided to older adults in the United States comes from family members, friends or other unpaid caregivers. Nearly half of all caregivers (48 %) who provide help to older adults do so for someone with Alzheimer’s or another dementia.

Show Your Solidarity with Airline Catering Workers

(June 14, 2019) - More than 11,000 members of UNITE HERE working in the airline catering industry are taking strike votes this week! On June 11, workers led the largest strike vote in U.S. history for airline catering workers, with over 20 major airport hub cities participating to let the airlines know they’ll be ready to strike if and when released by the government.

Solidarity at DCA Picket Line for Air Wisconsin Contract Fight

(June 14, 2019) - Flight Attendants from Air Wisconsin, Horizon, Alaska, Envoy, Piedmont, PSA, Spirit, Compass, Frontier, Mesa and United were out on the picket line on Tuesday at Washington National Airport (DCA) to fight for a fair contract with a living wage for Air Wisconsin Flight Attendants.

June is Alzheimer’s & Brain Awareness Month 

(May 31, 2019) - Fighting Alzheimer's is a personal cause for the members of AFA. Flight Attendants are natural caregivers, and many have directly faced the effects of Alzheimer’s with their loved ones. On the plane, we encounter situations or passenger conflicts that may occur when people are exhibiting behaviors caused by Alzheimer's or dementia.

AFA Celebrates Pride Month

(May 31, 2019) - June is Pride Month! AFA-CWA supports all LGBTQ Flight Attendants and workers as we fight for protections on the job and in our communities. AFA’s mission is to unite all Flight Attendants and promote equality and employment for all, regardless of race, color, creed, sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression. This has been codified in our Constitution since 1976.

Happy International Flight Attendant Appreciation Day!

I am so proud to represent Aviation’s First Responders! Our dedication to aviation safety has never been so clear to the public. We stood together and alongside other aviation unions to demand an end to the government shutdown for our safety, security, and our nation’s entire economy. We called for the grounding of the 737Max, accomplished lifesaving work on Miami Air 293 and Aeroflot 1492, along with countless other stories of events that became uneventful because Flight Attendants were on the scene.
