Flights Resume Across U.S. After F.A.A. System Failure

Updated 4:12 pm - Flights were taking off again Wednesday after an early morning Federal Aviation Administration system failure left pilots, airlines and airports without crucial safety information. The F.A.A. still had not provided a detailed cause of the overnight system collapse, which officials attributed to irregularities. An order to stop all departures across the United States was lifted shortly before 9 a.m. Eastern, allowing normal air traffic operations to gradually resume.

January 6, 2023 - More storms are set to slam Northern California and other parts of the West Coast this weekend, threatening heavy rain late Friday to places already struggling with flooding from a separate system that killed at least two people.

Remembering Piedmont CWA Agent Courtney Edwards

January 6, 2023 - Last Saturday, CWA Local 3645 member Courtney Edwards, a ground handling agent for Piedmont Airlines, died as a result of an on-the-job accident at the Montgomery Regional Airport (MGM) in Alabama. Courtney was a loving mother of three children and a wonderful daughter to her beloved mother, Natalie English of Montgomery, Ala.

Flight Attendants Meet with New Congress 

January 6, 2023 - AFA Government Affairs activists visited Capitol Hill last week to meet members-elect to brief them on Flight Attendant issues. The start of the 118th Congress may be remembered for the historic vote to elect a new House speaker -- which, for the first time in a century, took multiple rounds and multiple days. Ultimately, after 15 rounds, Kevin McCarthy was elected as Speaker of the House. 

January is National Slavery & Human Trafficking Prevention Month

January 1, 2023 - January is National Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month. We can take a stand against human trafficking by recommitting ourselves to end it on our planes. As Flight Attendants and aviation's first responders, we are uniquely positioned to identify human traffickers and assist their victims.
