Mask Mandate Extended Through January 18
August 20, 2021 - TSA and the CDC announced this week that the TSA mask mandate enforcement directive, previously set to expire on September 13, 2021, will be extended through January 18, 2022.
While this is extremely difficult in our workspace it is not unexpected given the increase in cases among crews and across the country due to the Delta variant and CDC's updated mask guidance last month for fully vaccinated people.
We are all tired of enforcing the mask mandate and wearing masks for 14/15+ hours a day. While the policy has saved lives and made it possible to regain travel demand, it has also been physically challenging especially in the heat and taxing throughout our day with enforcement. As our statement reads, "We all look forward to the day masks are no longer required but we’re not there yet. Let’s focus on putting COVID-19 in check together. Get vaxxed, wear a mask, be kind, and come fly with us!" We have got to get everyone working together to end the pandemic.
Masks and vaccines continue to be the most important tools to limit the spread of COVID and end this pandemic. Read the full statement >
