Washington, DC – The Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA) today partnered with the Air Line Pilots Association (ALPA) and were joined by union representatives from the Association of Professional Flight Attendants (APFA) and Allied Pilots Association (APA) to call on Congress for immediate passage of a FAA reauthorization bill. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is set to shut down again on September 16 when the current extension expires.

Washington, DC – Today, the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA, AFL-CIO (AFA) leadership, representing 15,000 pre-merger United Airlines Flight Attendants, announced in a joint statement with United Airlines that an agreement for expedited mediation has been accepted by the National Mediation Board. Both parties are committed to achieving a new agreement as soon as possible.  AFA International President Veda Shook issued the following statement regarding the protocol agreement:

Washington, DC – As the 10th anniversary of September 11th approaches, the world’s largest Flight Attendant union, the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA), reminds the public that the story of 9/11 cannot be told without recognizing the Flight Attendant heroes and the role they played as first responders. At the same time, AFA is focused on providing members with support, resources and a forum for remembering their flying partners who perished in the line of duty and for relating their own experiences.

Washington, DC – Frontier Airlines Flight Attendants, represented by the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA), today ratified a contract that provides job security and protections for the nearly 1,000 Flight Attendants. The agreement, amendable in 2016 with provisions for an early reopener, is the first contract for Frontier Flight Attendants who joined AFA last year.

Washington, DC – Omni Air International Flight Attendants took a major step in advancing their careers by requesting a representation election for the over 400 Flight Attendants at the charter carrier. The Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA) filed a petition with the National Mediation Board (NMB) yesterday after a strong majority of Omni Flight Attendants signed authorization cards seeking AFA representation.

Washington, DC – The Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA), representing Flight Attendants at Ryan International Airlines, filed for mediation yesterday in an effort to move contract negotiations forward. Ryan International, based in Rockford, IL, provides passenger service for the U.S. government, including the Department of Defense.

Washington, DC – PSA Airlines Flight Attendants, represented by the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA), are gearing up for a possible strike at the carrier after mediated negotiations with management recently stalled over compensation. Strike vote ballots will be sent to the over 300 Flight Attendants next week with a vote count scheduled for September 14.  PSA is a wholly-owned subsidiary of US Airways Group, Inc. and operates as a US Airways Express carrier.

The 10-day partial shutdown of the vital agency overseeing the safe passage of millions of travelers has been extended indefinitely:
