Washington, DC – The Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA) issued the following statement today reflecting on the anniversary of the historic Civil Rights Act of 1964 legislation which provided a pathway for equal treatment under the law for all citizens:

“Less than a week after the Supreme Court gutted the Voting Rights Act, which has protected voting rights for decades, we look back at the importance of these landmark, anti-discrimination laws and are reminded that our country was founded on the principle ‘that all men are created equal.’ Equality is at the heart of who we are and it is a principle that drives workers to band together for fairness.

Washington, DC – Fulfilling their primary roles as aviation’s first responders, Alaska Airlines Flight Attendants, represented by the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA), yesterday morning ensured a male passenger was restrained after he allegedly attempted to open an emergency exit row window during descent on flight 132 from Anchorage to Portland.
