Washington, D.C. (May 29, 2020) — AFA International President Sara Nelson released the following statement on protestors demanding accountability for police violence, especially for the killing by police of George Floyd in Minneapolis:

Washington, D.C. (May 22, 2020) — The Association of Flight Attendants-CWA, AFL-CIO (AFA) is responding to the letter that Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) and Senator Jack Reed (D-RI) sent to Delta Air Lines CEO Ed Bastian raising serious concerns about their decision to cut the hours of their employees after receiving financial assistance under the CARES Act. 

CHICAGO (May 20, 2020) — Scott Kirby will become United Airlines CEO today. Association of Flight Attendants-CWA, AFL-CIO (AFA) United President Ken Diaz, representing 25,000 Flight Attendants at United Airlines, released the following statement:

WASHINGTON, D.C. (May 11, 2020) — Miami Air International, a charter airline founded in 1990 that today employs 350 people in the Miami area, including 150 Flight Attendants represented by the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA, AFL-CIO (AFA), will liquidate as early as Wednesday entirely due to the impact of COVID-19. All 350 Miami Air employees will be immediately laid off and lose healthcare at the end of May because Secretary Mnuchin failed to respond to the airline’s application for payroll grants.

WASHINGTON, DC (May 6, 2020) — The Association of Flight Attendants-CWA, AFL-CIO (AFA) submitted a letter to the Senate Commerce, Science, Transportation Committee ahead of today’s hearing: “The State of the Aviation Industry: Examining the Impact of the COVID-19 Pandemic.”  Among other topics addressed in the letter including essential worker status, necessary safety protections and the status of the payroll support program. AFA President Sara Nelson raises a key issue: the undermining of the CARES Act by a couple airlines. The letter reads in part: 

SEATTLE (April 30, 2020) — Horizon Air Flight Attendants, represented by the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA), today voted to ratify a new contract. The four year agreement provides pay increases, improved scheduling and commute rules for the over 600 Horizon Flight Attendants.

WASHINGTON, D.C. (April 27, 2020) — The first U.S. airline, jetBlue, announced Monday night that it will require all passengers to wear a face mask on flights starting May 4. AFA President Sara Nelson said:

HONOLULU (April 3, 2020) — Hawaiian Airlines Flight Attendants, represented by the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA), today voted to ratify a new contract. The five year agreement provides immediate pay increases, establishes pay guarantees, and keeps healthcare costs in check for the over 2,100 Hawaiian Flight Attendants.
