American Eagle Flight Attendants Stand in Solidarity Against Management’s Outrageous Demands

Washington, DC – American Eagle Flight Attendants, represented by the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA), are joining workers across the American Airlines system today, February 14 at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport to protest over-reaching cuts management is demanding through Chapter 11. The event will be held from 11:00 a.m to 2:00 p.m. CST at the upper level of Terminal D.

Washington, DC – The Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA) today issued the following statement after the U.S. Senate passed the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) reauthorization bill that contained a vicious attack on bargaining rights for workers in the aviation and rail industries:

“AFA has long been a proponent of passing a comprehensive funding bill that allows the FAA to move forward on vital safety and airport improvement projects that help to enhance the world’s greatest aviation system. Corporate interests and right-wing ideologues took this vital piece of legislation and used it to destroy collective bargaining affecting workers across the country.

Washington, DC - Flight Attendants from over 20 airlines, represented by the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA), and concerned citizens from across the country will hold an OccuFLY protest at Los Angeles International Airport on Monday, February 6. Flight Attendants and supporters will protest the latest attack on collective bargaining rights included in the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) reauthorization bill.

Washington, DC – Compass Airlines Flight Attendants, represented by the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA), today voted against a tentative agreement with management. The agreement, voted down by nearly 80 percent, is a clear indication that Compass Flight Attendants are resolute in reaching an agreement that recognizes their contributions to the airline. Compass is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Trans States Holdings and serves as a Delta Connection Carrier.

Washington, DC – AirTran Airways Flight Attendants, represented by the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA), today ratified a Seniority Integration and Transition Agreement today. The agreement was reached in December with AFA, Southwest Airlines, AirTran Airways, and Transport Workers Union Local 556, which represents Southwest Flight Attendants, and outlines the full integration of AirTran Flight Attendants into Southwest as the two airlines merge.

Washington, DC – Nearly two decades after the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) was signed into law, Flight Attendants and other flight crews are finally granted the same access to coverage that has long benefited working families.  Today, Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA) President Veda Shook took part in the official announcement from Secretary of Labor Hilda Solis on the historic implementation of the Airline Flight Crew Family and Medical Leave Act.

If Ratified, Contract Unites 6,700 US Airways & Former America West Flight Attendants

Phoenix – Association of Flight Attendants-CWA, AFL-CIO (AFA) union negotiators representing Flight Attendants working for the merged US Airways and former America West Airlines announced agreement on a single, combined contract late last night.  The AFA presidents of each pre-merger airline, Mike Flores, representing pre-merger US Airways Flight Attendants and Deborah Volpe, representing pre-merger America West Flight Attendants, issued the following joint statement:
