Washington, DC – The world's largest Flight Attendant union run by and for Flight Attendants, the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA), was a prominent voice today at the Workers Memorial Day ceremony hosted by the National Labor College. First Flight Attendant Contract Signed at United Airlines 65 Years Ago

Washington, DC – The Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA), the largest Flight Attendant union run by and for Flight Attendants, this week honored the 65th anniversary of the first Flight Attendant contract and reflected on the evolution of the unique profession. On April 26, 1946, United Flight Attendants, represented by AFA, signed the first Flight Attendant contract. That historic contract raised monthly pay, limited duty hours, set rest periods and established a grievance procedure. It laid the foundation for the Flight Attendant career that AFA continues to build on today.

National Mediation Board Announces Dates for Union Election

Washington, DC – The National Mediation Board (NMB) today announced the voting schedule for a representation election for United, Continental and Continental Micronesia Flight Attendants. Balloting instructions will be sent to the over 24,000 Flight Attendants on May 17 and voting will close June 29, 2011.

Washington, DC – AirTran Airways Flight Attendants, represented by the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA), ratified a two-year agreement today that includes pay increases and enhanced work rules for the over 2,000 Flight Attendants.

Washington, DC – The Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA) today issued support of the Transportation Security Administration’s (TSA) new program that will promote an alternate screening of crewmembers. The new program, sponsored by the Air Line Pilots Association (ALPA) and the Air Transport Association (ATA), will begin testing later this year.

NMB Agrees with AFA - Declares 'New' United Airlines Ready for Union Election

Washington, DC – The National Mediation Board (NMB) today granted the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA’s (AFA) request to declare that the United/Continental merger has created a single transportation system for the purposes of Flight Attendant representation. Over 24,000 Flight Attendants will soon vote for Flight Attendant union representation at the combined airline.

Association of Flight Attendants Negotiates Pay and Work Rule Improvements

Washington, DC – Flight Attendants, represented by the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA), reached a tentative agreement today with AirTran Airways. Mediated talks took place under the auspices of the National Mediation Board.  The two-year agreement calls for pay increases and enhanced work rules. Specific terms will not be released until the over 2,000 Flight Attendants have had a chance to review the details.

Washington, DC – The Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA) won a major arbitration today for hundreds of former Midwest Airlines Flight Attendants, represented by AFA. The arbitration award validated AFA’s assertion that the Midwest Flight Attendant contract was violated after Republic Airways Holdings, Inc. purchased Midwest Airlines and staffed the same flights with non-Midwest Flight Attendants, often compensated up to 70 percent less.
