JULY 27, 2020 — Thanks in part to airline pilots, flight attendants and other aviation workers, the U.S. airline industry has begun a fragile return to the skies — but the effort will be lost without commitment from the Trump administration and Congress to continue to protect aviation jobs, mandate a healthy flying environment and help us inspire more passengers to fly. 

WASHINGTON (July 8, 2020) — The Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA) International President Sara Nelson, representing nearly 50,000 Flight Attendants at 19 airlines including United, today released the following statement on United Airlines' furlough announcement: 

Washington, DC — In a letter to Congressional leadership, the leaders of the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA-CWA), the Air Line Pilots Association (ALPA), the Communications Workers of America (CWA), the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM), the Transport Workers Union (TWU), and the Transportation Trades Department, AFL-CIO (TTD), are calling on lawmakers to extend the Payroll Support Program (PSP) in the CARES Act through March 31, 2021.

WASHINGTON, D.C. (June 18, 2020) — The U.S. House of Representatives Homeland Security Subcommittee on Transportation & Maritime Security will hold a hearing titled "Climbing Again: Stakeholder Views on Resuming Air Travel in the COVID-19 Era." AFA President Sara Nelson will testify on how to safely lift air travel.

(June 15, 2020) — On Monday, Airlines for America (A4A) announced that its member carriers will be vigorously enforcing face covering policies, putting rigor around rules requiring passengers and customer-facing employees to wear facial coverings over their nose and mouth.
