AFA-CWA Adds Full Support to jetBlue-Spirit Airlines Merger After Securing Immediate Improvements and Protections Post-Merger
Washington, D.C. (February 21, 2023) — The Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA), representing 5,600 Spirit Attendants, reached a tentative agreement with Spirit Airlines to increase wages by 10-27 percent immediately, continue raises locked in for the next two years, and other immediate improvements for Flight Attendant schedules and quality of life. The directly elected Flight Attendant AFA-CWA leaders at Spirit voted to approve the tentative agreement for membership ratification and support merger of jetBlue-Spirit.

(October 4, 2022) — The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) today finalized a rule requiring 10 hours minimum, non-reducible rest for Flight Attendants between duty days – finally implementing a 2018 law that will make aviation safer for over 100,000 Flight Attendants and the passengers in our care. The rule will increase the rest period to 10 irreducible hours when scheduled for a duty period of 14 hours or less. WASHINGTON, D.C. — An American Airlines flight attendant was physically assaulted by an unruly passenger on Wednesday. The incident happened on American Airlines Flight 377 with service from San José del Cabo, Mexico, to Los Angeles International Airport. Law enforcement met the flight at the gate and removed the unruly individual, according to a statement from American Airlines. Video posted on social media shows an individual approach a flight attendant toward the front of the plane and proceed to punch the flight attendant with an audible gasp from passengers who witnessed the incident.
