The protecting Employees and Retirees In Business Act would ensure rank-and-file employees retain more of their earned wages, benefits, and retirement savings when their employer files for Chapter 11 bankruptcy

PHOENIX (October 22, 2024) — Flight Attendants at United Express carrier Mesa Air, represented by the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA), are ramping up their fight for a fair contract as they enter the first session of federally mediated negotiations, under the supervision of the National Mediation Board (NMB). AFA filed for federal mediation in September to press forward on a new contract for 560 Flight Attendants. 

CHICAGO (October 15, 2024) — The Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA) International President Sara Nelson and United AFA President Ken Diaz released the following statement on United Airlines’ stock buyback announcement:

WASHINGTON, D.C. (September 25, 2024) — Flight Attendants, represented by the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA, demonstrated outside of the Regional Airline Association (RAA) Conference to call out “regional” business model that benefits executives and shareholders at Delta, United, American and Alaska by keeping pay and benefits for Flight Attendants and other workers in poverty levels. 

DENVER (September 18, 2024) – Flight Attendants at Frontier Airlines, represented by the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA), voted 99.6% to authorize a strike with 92.7% participating. The results come as management refuses to negotiate over the impact of the carrier’s business model change. Frontier management has a legal obligation to bargain over that impact, separate and distinct from their obligation to engage in regular contract negotiations, yet they continue to refuse to bargain or even engage in mediation through the National Mediation Board.

WASHINGTON, D.C. (September 17, 2024) – Flight Attendants at American wholly-owned PSA Airlines, represented by the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA-CWA), voted 99.2% to authorize a strike. The results come after months of insulting proposals from PSA management during contract negotiations.

CHICAGO (August 28, 2024) — United Airlines Flight Attendants, represented by the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA), voted 99.99% yes, with 90.21% participating, on strike authorization should management fail to agree to significant improvements. The results of the vote were announced live, simultaneously, on nearly 20 informational picket lines at airports across the country.

WASHINGTON, D.C. (August 9, 2024) – Flight Attendants at American wholly-owned PSA Airlines, represented by the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA-CWA), will take a strike authorization vote after management’s insulting proposals in contract negotiations. The American Airlines Group management team rewards themselves with massive compensation increases while Flight Attendants at PSA struggle to pay basic bills.

August 5, 2024 — The Association of Flight Attendants-CWA, AFL-CIO (AFA) Board of Directors, the directly elected leaders of 55,000 Flight Attendants at 20 airlines, voted unanimously to endorse the election of Vice President Kamala Harris as the next President of the United States.
