Frontier Airlines Flight Attendants Secure Tentative Agreement On Contract Improvements

Washington, DC – Frontier Airlines Flight Attendants, represented by the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA), recently announced a tentative agreement that would lock in pay, benefit and work rule improvements in exchange for the unpredictable return on equity and profit sharing. The tentative agreement includes benefits for the over 1,000 Flight Attendants, which would be implemented as mid-term contract improvements. AFA had been in discussions with management regarding changes to the Flight Attendant collective bargaining agreement prior to the purchase of the airline by Indigo Partners in December 2013.

Flight Attendant Union Applauds Congress For Taking Action Against Norwegian Air Outsourcing Scheme

Washington, DC – The Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA) today commended the United States House of Representatives for passing the DeFazio/Westmoreland Amendment that ensures U.S. airlines and aviation crewmembers are afforded a level playing field for transatlantic flying. The bipartisan amendment attached to the 2015 Transportation, Housing, and Urban Development Appropriations Act (H.R. 4745), introduced by Reps. Peter DeFazio (D-OR) and Lynn Westmorland (R-GA), requires that the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) follow the protocol contained in the U.S.-EU "Open Skies" agreement.

Flight Attendants at the New American Airlines Begin Negotiations as Record Profits Announced

Washington, DC – As record breaking profits for the new American Airlines were announced earlier today, Flight Attendants represented by Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (US Airways) and the Association of Professional Flight Attendants (American) together met with management to submit an opening proposal for a single contract covering the combined workgroup. Today’s negotiations were part of an agreement ratified in February 2014 that outlined a specific process in which a single contract would be reached.

Flight Attendant Union and ITF Call For Thorough Investigation Of Norwegian Air International

Washington, DC – At a recent meeting of the International Transport Workers Federation (ITF), the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA), the world’s largest Flight Attendant union, introduced a resolution calling for a full investigation of Norwegian Air International’s (NAI) labor standards and business practices. The initiative, which was adopted by the ITF, called upon the U.S. Department of Transportation, among others, to seek additional information about NAI’s labor plans in order to protect airline labor from the adverse consequences of circumventing international labor laws.

US Airways Express Flight Attendants Ratify New Contract

Washington, DC – Piedmont Airlines Flight Attendants, represented by the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA), today voted in favor of a new contract that includes pay increases and work rule improvements for the nearly 200 regional Flight Attendants. The agreement was reached with the assistance of the National Mediation Board (NMB).

Flight Attendant Union Promotes Bill For Permanent Ban On Knives In The Aircraft Cabin

Washington, DC – The Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA), today pledged unyielding support for a new bill that would place a permanent ban on knives in the passenger cabin. The bi-partisan bill, H.R. 4368, was introduced by Representatives Michael Grimm (R-NY), Tulsi Gabbard (D-HI), David Joyce (R-OH), and Daniel Lipinski (D-IL). It serves as companion legislation to Senate bill S. 1008. AFA issued the following statement, commending the lawmakers who are taking sound action for aviation security and refusing to forget why there is a ban on knives in the passenger cabin.
