Despite Years Spent Developing Multi-Faceted Training, FAA Issues New Guidance for Pilots Only

Washington, DC – The Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA) expressed disappointment with the exclusion of Flight Attendants from the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) recently unveiled enhanced training procedures, which include only Pilots, despite years of joint work by Flight Attendants and the FAA on rules that would cover all crewmembers and dispatchers.

Washington, DC – The Coalition of Flight Attendant Unions, representing Flight Attendants at carriers across the county, today called for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and airlines to focus efforts on standardizing portable electronic device (PED) policies across the industry for maximum safety and consistency. Earlier today, FAA unveiled new guidelines that would enable airlines to ultimately permit usage of PEDs from gate-to-gate, during all phases of flight.

Washington, DC – The Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA) issued the following statement today after the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) publicly released final recommendations from the Portable Electronic Device (PED) Aviation Rulemaking Committee (ARC). AFA was selected to serve as the voice of Flight Attendants on the committee due to years of expert work on cabin safety issues.

Washington, DC – US Airways Flight Attendants, represented by the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA), continued to tout the benefits created by a US Airways/American Airlines merger as mayors from seven hub cities penned a joint letter to the Department of Justice asking to reconsider its lawsuit

Washington, DC – Frontier Airlines Flight Attendants, represented by the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA), issued the following statement today after the announcement that private-equity firm, Indigo Partners intends to purchase the airline. In August, Frontier management approached AFA seeking to make changes to the current Flight Attendant contract which becomes amendable in March 2016.

Washington, DC – The Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA) today implored Congress to display responsible leadership for the nearly two million families who will be harmed without a paycheck during this government shutdown and to restart the federal government before the damage becomes irreversible:
