Norse Flight Attendants Officially Join AFA
NMB certifies AFA as Representative
Washington, D.C. (August 17, 2022) — The National Mediation Board (NMB) this week certified by card check the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA as the union representative for Flight Attendants at Norse Atlantic Airways. Following certification, AFA-CWA released the following statement from International President Sara Nelson:
“We are thrilled for the Flight Attendants at Norse, and they are ready to vote on the historic tentative agreement we reached with Norse management last year. Norse Flight Attendants strengthen our union, our career and our industry.
“Our agreement will immediately set a new standard in aviation—both in the terms of the content and how it was reached. Norse Flight Attendants will have the highest starting pay in the industry, strong work rules, and the knowledge that management worked to reach that agreement as a partner, not an opponent.
“From the beginning, Norse management led by CEO Bjorn Tore Larsen, showed what’s possible when you recognize workers’ dignity and the importance of a union for establishing compensation and working conditions that benefit workers and the company. We look forward to working together to implement the contract pending ratification and make Norse an example to the entire industry.
“Corporate stooges like Howard Schultz and Jeff Bezos would do well to end their anti-worker union busting and instead collaborate with workers to create healthy, thriving workplaces. Whether they do or not, workers in every industry will continue to fight for a fair deal and voice at work, and our union will be there to support them.”
Additional details on the agreement and process can be found here.
