Omni Flight Attendants Excited To Move Forward With World's Largest Flight Attendant Union

Washington, DC – An election for union representation begins today for the nearly 400 Flight Attendants at Omni Air International.  Omni Flight Attendants, who requested an election in August, are eager to have a voice at work and advance their careers with the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA). Voting instructions were mailed by the National Mediation Board (NMB) today and results will be announced on Tuesday, October 25.

“This is an exciting time for Omni Flight Attendants. We applaud our sisters and brothers for standing together to make a difference in their work lives. In record time these Flight Attendants spoke with each other and built the much greater than the legal requirements to call for this vote.  Now as voting begins, they are just three weeks away from gaining the legal right to negotiate over important aspects of their careers such as wages, retirement benefits and vital safety programs. We look forward to working alongside Omni Flight Attendants as they advance their careers and take control of their future,” said AFA International President Veda Shook.

“We love our work and we want to make it better.  We expect it will be a very high voter turnout in support of AFA because we need the expert voice for Flight Attendants and all of the resources available through AFA representation to make sure Omni Air provides proper respect and recognition for our contributions,” said Omni Air Flight Attendant Mya Grap.  “We are going to make the most out of this opportunity and make a big difference for our future.  We are voting for AFA.”

Based in Tulsa, OK, Omni Air operates international and domestic passenger charters. In addition, Omni also provides cargo and troop airlift for the U.S. military.

The Association of Flight Attendants is the world’s largest Flight Attendant union. Focused 100 percent on Flight Attendant issues, AFA has been the leader in advancing the Flight Attendant profession for over 65 years. Serving as the voice for Flight Attendants in the workplace, in the aviation industry, in the media and on Capitol Hill, AFA has transformed the Flight Attendant profession by raising wages, benefits and working conditions. Nearly 60,000 Flight Attendants at 23 airlines come together to form AFA, part of the 700,000-member strong Communications Workers of America (CWA), AFL-CIO. Visit us at www.afacwa.org.
