REAL ID and KCM
May 9, 2025 -- REAL ID enforcement began this week at TSA checkpoints across the country, including Known Crewmember (KCM) checkpoints. Passports, military IDs, or CBP Global Entry cards are REAL ID compliant.
Here’s what you need to know for KCM checkpoints.
KCM as uniformed crew:
- Valid Non-expired government issued photo ID (including REAL ID-compliant driver’s license, passport, military ID, Global Entry card)
- Valid Non-expired aircraft operator photo ID or National Air Transport Association ID
KCM as non-uniformed crew:
- Valid Non-expired government issued photo ID (including REAL ID-compliant driver’s license, passport, military ID, Global Entry card)
- Valid Non-expired aircraft operator photo ID or National Air Transport Association ID
-
And a third ID, either:
- An additional Valid Non-expired government issued photo ID (including REAL ID-compliant driver’s license, passport, military ID, Global Entry card) OR
- Valid Federal Aviation Administration Airman’s Certificate or a Certificate of Demonstrated Proficiency.
The only thing that has changed is your government IDs must be REAL ID compliant. That said, Flight Attendants have reported some inconsistencies at airports. Report KCM issues through your airline's process and let your local AFA officers know.
