December 29, 2024 — Our hearts are with the family and loved ones of the crew and passengers on Jeju Air Flight 2216 and Azerbaijan Airlines Flight 8243. We offer deep condolences for the lives lost and healing love for those struggling to recover.
Jeju Air Flight 2216 — a Boeing 737-800 aircraft — was arriving at Muan International Airport from Bangkok around 9 a.m. December 29, 2024 when it crashed as it derailed off the runway, according to South Korea’s National Fire Agency. Two crew members were rescued from the aircraft’s tail section, the other 179 people onboard have all been confirmed dead. Officials are investigating what caused the tragedy, including why the plane’s landing gear appeared to have malfunctioned, whether birds had struck the jet, or if bad weather had been a factor.
Azerbaijan Airlines Flight 8243 — a Embraer 190 aircraft — crashed in Kazakhstan on Christmas Day killing 38 people on board, leaving 29 survivors.
We support investigators in finding all cause of these incidents and rededicate ourselves to the mission of aviation safety for those affected by the tragic loss of Jeju Air 2216 and Azerbaijan Airlines 8243.
